Life on a farm

Life on a farm is very exciting. New things are happening constantly.
The calendar is filled with dates of baby rabbits births and when to make soap.
The chickens should start laying eggs in a month or so and Ruthie (goat) needs her hooves clipped.
Oh, so many things to do! The garden has prospered well and I am very sad to see the lettuce gone.
But now, it is almost time for potatoes. We have tasted first fruits from our other plants and I am constantly in awe at this wonderful world God made.
There is nothing like waking up in the early morn (It does happen occasionally!) and hanging out a load of laundry before the heat of the day has even set in. The smell of crisp cool night air still in the air and the feel of dew on your bare feet as you dance back and forth to keep them warm.
While farm life can be quite a chore ( like waking up at 6:00 to go milk a goat who is not quite sure she wants to be milked!) it has many, many rewards.
Fresh milk that froths at the top, Organic crunchy veggies that taste out of this world, Fresh eggs, and soon to be fresh meat.
Yes, our dear little cottontails are for meat.
I am not quite sure about the whole thing....But, my dad assures me that it will be the best barbecue I have ever tasted. I will let you know!
I encourage you to take some time and look around, find the farm at your house.
It may be the curtains blowing in the breeze, the jars of freshly made strawberry jam in your freezer, or maybe just the flowers on your porch, but no matter where we live I think we all have a little 'farm girl' in us.
Happy Weekend!

My New Years Resolutions:

Happy New Year everyone! I hope 2008 was a wonderful year for you!

Bria asked me to name my New Years Resolutions, so here goes!

1- To read my bible everyday

2-To complete two levels of violin

3- To wake up earlier (6:00....?)

4- To start the French Language program I received for Christmas

5- To, during the Spring and Summer remain consistent in weeding and taking care of my herb garden

6- To start a flower garden for the purpose of bouquets

7- To continue to learn more about soap making and candle making

8- This one is not really a resolution, but I really want to try and make a list to keep up with all of the books I read. I think it would be really cool to have someday.

Thanks Bria!

We've Been Picked!

As many of you know we have been in the adoption process again for awhile. Well, we have finally been picked!! But this time we have been picked by God, not a birth mother.
Yes, my mom is pregnant! 15 weeks to be exact. We are so excited and are looking forward to a new baby being in the family. Mom has been really sick these last few weeks and is just now starting to feel better so we have been really busy! Please pray that everything will go well and Mom and baby will continue to be healthy.

Just a Thought...

If we as Christians believe that working on the Sabbath (besides necessary jobs like preparing food and dishes) is against God's law, then why do we support people who do work on Sunday?? We stop at Walmart to pick up a 'last minute' snack for bible study or stop on the way to church for a coffee (guilty here!) , isn't supporting people who break God's law just as bad as doing it??

Just a thought.
